SAGA Studio, a young Danish Space Architect company renowned for its innovative space architecture designs, set out on a journey to find a reliable container company. Their ambitious new project (a training facility simulating a lunar habitat) required a Danish partner with container expertise, and in the midst of their search, SAGA came across our old Danish website, which was still showing up in the top positions of Google’s search engine. However, clicking on the website link only brought up an Error 404 page with a bold, humorous message saying “Houston, we have a problem!” .

That put SAGA off for a moment, but then the room erupted in laughter. A strange coincidence for a space architecture company to encounter a space bug report—it seemed like a twist of fate. “It’s almost too good to be true,” SAGA co-founder Sebastian Aristoteles observed.
Despite our website being down, SAGA managed to find our contact details and reached out to us. After a brief chat with the Danish Country Manager (and a visit to their website to learn more about the different container sizes and features), we quickly agreed to partner. TITAN is donating a 40-foot High Cube container that will be transformed into the world’s first lunar habitat.
INNOVATION IN SPACE EXPLORATION
As a leading provider of innovative solutions in the container industry, TITAN is proud to support SAGA’s project, which will enhance the European Space Agency’s mission to advance space exploration. The lunar station will provide astronauts with a unique training environment that simulates the challenging conditions they will face on future missions to the Moon.
SAGA’s UHAB-2 project expands humanity’s capabilities in space by providing a safe habitat. It serves as an Earth-based lunar simulator and facilitates astronaut research and training. This advances space technology and supports exploration while deepening our understanding of our planet.
The company has set three goals for the project:
1. Astronaut training
The goal of the station is to provide a realistic environment for astronaut training. Analog space stations provide insights into the physical and psychological challenges astronauts face and prepare them for space travel and exploration.
2. Technology testing room
The UHAB-2 project serves as a testing ground for new equipment and technologies, ensuring their readiness before deployment on missions.
3. Research
Analog environments that replicate aspects of space on Earth provide a valuable testing ground for tools and concepts, as well as a research site and training space for astronauts.
MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTION TO THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY
This collaboration with SAGA exemplifies TITAN’s commitment to technological advancement and international collaboration. Our robust shipping containers, known for their durability and adaptability, are the perfect foundation for this groundbreaking project.
The donation of these containers demonstrates our commitment to corporate social responsibility and our desire to make a meaningful contribution to the scientific community. We believe in supporting innovation and efforts that push the boundaries of human knowledge through our TITAN Impact program .
Project details
PHASE No. 1
- Design and customization : We will support SAGA in designing and customizing the container.
PHASE No. 2
- Delivery and installation : Upon completion, TITAN will deliver the containers to the ESA training center in Germany.
- Training and research : The lunar station will be used to train ESA astronauts, prepare them for future missions to the Moon, and conduct critical research on how to minimize lunar dust on a lunar station.
WHY WE DECIDED TO SUPPORT THIS PROJECT
SAGA was something new for us. It wasn’t about supporting disadvantaged or community groups, but it was an opportunity to explore the capabilities of our popular 40-foot High Cube containers (which have an impressive 27.3 m2 of interior space) and support an initiative that could have long-term consequences for all of humanity.
