YumChop Foods is an innovative brand that brings diverse Nigerian and West African cuisine to the UK.

After great success , when it first offered packaged meals in hospitals, schools and British railway stations through modern vending machines.

Now the company has reached a significant milestone: securing shelf space in the UK’s largest supermarket chain, Tesco.

To support this growth, YumChop Foods needed a robust solution to increase production capacity and energy efficiency for pre-packaged meals.

Quick freezing preserves the nutrients and flavor of the food, ensuring customers at home enjoy the same quality of food in the company’s commercial dining rooms.

With an urgent need to quickly install a blast freezer, YumChop turned to TITAN Containers to come up with a solution that would meet their specific requirements while meeting a tight schedule.

SOLUTION

Understanding YumChop Foods‘ unique needs was essential to  providing the optimal solution. Our business development team worked with  YumChop , which included on-site visits, to meet  Michael and Abi Adefsisan, the company’s founders , and  truly understand their needs .

This meeting helped deepen  understanding leading to a collaborative approach, resulting in a tailored solution that met YumChop’s specific production goals and space requirements.

After evaluating various options, YumChop decided that TITAN’s 10-foot ArcticStore container was the ideal solution for its needs , a versatile unit that can maintain temperatures from –40°C to +45°C and  perfectly suited to YumChop’s blast freezing requirements .

Using TITAN’s latest generation of ArcticStore insulated containers and TITAN-spec ThermoKing refrigeration equipment, efficiency is maximized and costs are minimized.

This solution supported YumChop in the initial production stages and also helped it manage financial expenses in the first months of operation.

This solution not only meets its need for rapid freezing and increased production footprint, but most importantly supports the company’s commitment to delivering tasty and nutritious meals to customers across the UK.

DELIVERY

As the project progressed, YumChop’s needs evolved, leading to the relocation of the unit from off-site to their manufacturing facility.

While the standard industry approach would have involved “sliding” the unit into place – and thus additional delivery costs – the TITAN team proposed an alternative that would save YumChop a significant amount of money.

As the 10ft ArcticStore container can be safely lifted by a forklift (which was already available on site) using the unit’s built-in forklift attachments, the ArcticStore container could be quickly and easily placed on the production line inside the building. This approach reduced the additional service costs by £1,500 (€1,800) .

TITAN’s expertise and flexibility enabled seamless delivery and installation, ensuring the unit was positioned exactly where it needed to be, seamlessly integrated into YumChop’s workflows, and ready to go live on time.

TITAN provided free on-site familiarization training to help their teams understand how to use the unit more quickly, ensuring it was up and running right away.

RESULTS

YumChop Foods now has a highly efficient blast freezing solution that meets their expanded production needs and meets their energy efficiency goals.

The installation process went smoothly, and  TITAN’s proactive approach to resolving logistical issues meant that YumChop saved both time and resources .

After installation, our TITAN Business Development team revisited the site to meet with Michael and Abi again to ensure the unit was working as expected, answer any questions that had arisen since installation, and (thanks to Michael and Abi’s generosity) had the opportunity to sample their delicious cuisine.

Today, YumChop Foods is well-positioned to bring its chef-prepared, flavorful dishes to an even wider audience, knowing that TITAN’s solutions will support it in its mission to bring the authentic taste of West Africa to every customer.
