Projekt Donny Urquhartové usilující na Antarktidě o Guinessův světový rekord™

Donna Urquhart is on her way to setting a Guinness World Record™ for running across Antarctica, and TITAN Containers has her back every step of the way.

Urquhart plans to run the longest polar ultramarathon in  history , and we are very proud to provide her with the necessary support as she conquers 1,300 km.

Urquhart set off on December 14 from Union Glacier Camp in Antarctica , aiming to achieve a significant milestone for women in the world of endurance sports.

HOW ON EARTH DO YOU PREPARE FOR A RUN ACROSS ANTARCTIC?

Melbourne wasn’t exactly the best geographical location for Urquhart to train for this run. Swapping Melbourne’s sunny skies and 25-degree temperatures for the frigid Antarctic of -20 degrees and endless snow seemed like too much – until TITAN Containers got involved.

The TITAN Containers team offered Urquhart year-round access to  a range of ArcticStore portable refrigerated storage containers .

These temperature-controlled containers , often used by well-known brands such as Tesco and Thatchers to store food, can provide cooling down to a freezing -40°C. These containers became the perfect “training ground” for Donna, who needed to run 4,600 km during 2023.

“It was a really valuable experience. I learned what equipment I needed to bring with me and how to use it. At one point I was in the freezer and my drink froze! I learned how to use my equipment. We are really grateful to TITAN Containers…” 

It was a use case like no other. Our team in Melbourne was used to providing these cold storage units for frozen goods, vaccines, and cold testing of structural components. But now they had outfitted them with a treadmill, with one exceptionally determined runner.

Urquhart is not just running for herself, but for every girl who loves sports. All charitable donations from Urquhart’s run will go to organizations dedicated to keeping girls active, healthy and happy – both physically and mentally.
